Then she took Lila, now three years old, and one-year old Thomas to the clubhouse and swimming pool after lunch for a swim. On the way home from the pool, both children fell asleep in the back seat of the car. Relieved that both toddlers were asleep for once at the same time, she didn’t dare transfer them. She looked at her watch. It was four o’clock now. A full hour had passed. There was no sound from the garage. She was surprised the children weren’t screaming by now. The silence was deceptive and a sign of trouble. She got up and rushed to the garage. The Peugeot sedan was gone. She looked around in a panic. What had happened?
