I listened to this book on audio C.D.'s, yes it was awhile ago.It was on a long bus ride and the story just was not cohesive enough to follow for me. I liked the characters, but it was rather lackluster and I didn't want to wait for the ending. I read this a few years ago, and barely remember anything but portals or doors :C Kinda disappointed in this novel - I might have to give it another go. I liked this book, but I wouldn't say I loved it. It promises a love story that you don't even get an inkling of until 1/3 of the way into the book. It gets very boring and seems to drag on at parts. On a positive note I love the historical fiction part of it. It paints a clear picture of all the countries and the time period. There is a second one, I'm going to have to read the reviews before I consider reading it.
How do I describe this? I enjoyed parts of this novel, but I found it to be a bit clunky at parts.
