Set-Apart Femininity: God's Sacred Intent For Every Young Woman (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
Leslie Ludy’s books are challenging, eye-opening, and conviction-renewing sort of things. Set-Apart Femininity was another one, talking about how a woman truly becomes a beautiful, feminine creature. Not by an overload of make-up, the latest fashions in clothing, or having male attention wherever you go… but by following in the Lord’s footsteps. Obviously, this is a huge feat! –And at times, reading Set-Apart Femininity was overwhelming for me. My own failures in following in God’s footsteps threatened to stifle out any glimmer of hope. I wanted to slam the book closed and stay in my safe, normal life. But, of course, I didn’t really want to do that. Pray and read God’s Word and trust Him! Set-Apart Femininity has helped me set my eyes on important things. Like making time each day to read my Bible and pray…I’ve even started a pray journal, and have been really enjoying my quiet times writing in it. It also helped me again to see that God loves us and wants us to follow His ways to avoid the hurt and pain sin causes us! God wants to bless us and fill us with His joy. But we need to be willing to be set-apart for Him. Being of woman of God is so much more than wearing modest clothing and saving sex for marriage. So much more. It’s about delighting yourself in Him and letting His Light inhabit you, from the inside out! I don't think women need another piece of literature to tell them how they are constantly failing as women. Cosmopolitan and all other media do enough of that. Not to mention the plethora of judgement and ridicule you'll receive if you read this book. But don't worry, it's all done in love (sarcasm). Even IF you believe in this god Ludy speaks of, you should be free to embrace who you are as a woman, no matter what that means, rather than having to live up to this "Proverbs 31 woman" standard.
