The writing in this story was excellent as was the character development. Erica Hayes is clearly a very good writer and world builder. I particularly loved how it was in Melbourne everything always seems to be in America so i did like getting to read about an Australian city. The reason this only gets three stars is I just didn't like the hero of this story that much. There just seemed to be a too sudden drop to love in some ways. Even though it takes the whole book mostly for that the insta attraction just didn't seem to quite work. Its not like it was out of character really I just didn't really feel it when it came to the two of them. Mostly from Jade's perspective their relationship seemed to move too fast. I can't pinpoint why it just did. It could be because everything moved so fast in this story.Though I did really like Jade. Rajah I felt kinda meh about. But Jade's character I liked. She really just did seem to just be trying to cope with it all. The one character I really liked and wanted to learn a lot more about was the demon who was one of the bad guys really Kane? At the end of the book I found I cared more about him than Rajah and wanted to know his story and read about him getting a happy ending. This however is unlikely I think but I hope.I will definitely be getting the next book. This was the story of a succubus (Jade) and an incubus (Rajah) enslaved by demon Kane. Rajah pins his hope of freedom on stealing a 4 point set of souls, but various other characters (the demon, a vampire gangster, and Rajah's former maker) throw roadblocks in his way- and then Jade becomes another roadblock in her own way. The story was pretty good, but for me, the fact that there was sex or talk about sex on almost every page, was too much. It got to the point where the plot seemed to go wherever the author could insert more sex.
What do You think about Shadowfae (2009)?
Fabulous erotic imagery. Erica took a lot of risks with this book but it was unputdownable.
