Vaughn asked me. We’d parked a few houses down from another place that looked a lot like the house across from the fairgrounds. I glanced at his muscular arms and the bounty hunter gear in his back seat. “Can you go in and restrain him before the rest of us get inside?”“Probably.” “Is there a signal?”“Yeah,” he said as he climbed out of the car. “I’ll flash the lights on and off. Give me ten minutes. If there’s no signal, the plan went to shit and I’d appreciate it if you’d bust in and give me a hand.”Vaughn opened the back door of his SUV, grabbed some zip ties, shoved a stun gun in his pocket, and then jogged down to the dark house. I waited until he slipped inside to exit his SUV. A moment later I climbed into the back of Lucien’s Jeep where my friends were waiting. With any luck, Vaughn would restrain Mitch and we could get this over with as soon as possible. But as the minutes ticked by, my nerves started to fray. Eight minutes. No lights. Nine minutes.
