Shaedes Of Gray (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

No no no no no no! This book was like a high school remake. Darian was a whinny baby and cried constantly about all that was wrong in her world, and it was always someone's else fault. She claimed to be this tough assassin, but she only ever measured that up to the number of jobs she's had involving humans, and this was still after she found out there was more supernatural creatures out there besides herself. That's like an adult competing against a child and saying that they're the best when they beat them. I really don't like love triangles, and in this case a possible love triangle, and despite that I still decided to give this book another chance and keep reading (I should've listened to my first instinct). I really wanted to like this book, I really did. While I really did enjoy this novel I had quite a few problems with the way it was written. First of all the plot seemed like it was all over the place. It was either running full tilt or going as slow as molasses. It definitely felt like the author was feeling out each character and how they were going to fit into the series. While I loved the relationship between Darian and Tyler it was also extremely frustrating to read it as well. Her reluctance to accept him as anything other then a business associate was downright annoying. Her previous 'lover' who had abandoned her a century ago was preventing her from growing close to anybody. It was a CENTURY ago! Come on! You've had some time to heal. I plan on reading the next novel because the concept behind these books are just too good. But like I said before I did enjoy this book for the most part, it just had a few holes.
