I really enjoyed this book, I often just jump into a book without reading what its about but rather based on Genre. I had no idea this book was a compilation of short stories written by great dystopian and paranormal romance writers. The short stories left me wanting for more, I wanted all the short stories to be excerpts from larger novels but I do not think they are. There was quite the variety in here and a great book if you have shorter intervals to read in but the desire to read it all in a single sitting. When I read I get so pulled in I don't want to put the book down until just 'one more chapter' this was nice because each short story took about 15-20 minutes to finish and you could walk away. Shards and Ashes is an anthology of amazing short stories written by the masters of dystopia.I enjoyed most of the stories in this novel. I loved Veronica Roth's Hearken the most. The idea of life and death songs was so captivating. I didn't quite enjoy Dogsbody. I found it to be confusing and very slow paced for a short story. Branded was also a favorite. While I'm not usually a fan of romance, the sacrifices the characters made in the story were fantastic. I REALLY enjoyed reading Beth Revis's Love is a Choice. It gave an inside look at Orion, a character from her Across the Universe series. Pale Rider was another more boring story. The rest were enjoyable, they just dind't really stand out at all.
What do You think about Shards & Ashes (2013)?
Some of these stories were good, but others were hard to understand and boring.
