It might have been the fact that the sunrise had looked particularly gorgeous from her picture window this morning as she’d sipped her coffee and read the morning edition of the New York Times from her tablet. It might have been the fact that she’d gotten a good night’s sleep for the first time in over a week. Or it could have been the fact that she’d gotten laid. Probably a combination of all three, she thought as she smiled at the young man behind the front desk. He smiled back at her and greeted her, and she did the same before passing through the security checkpoint. Not even walking through the metal detector or being forced to take off her shoes was enough to dampen her mood. After checking in with her boss and becoming more familiarized with the project and her role in it, she settled down in her section of the lab and began the day’s work.
