This is a New Adult book by Tracy Wolff. Z Michaels is a 21 year old pro snowboarder who hides behind risk and sex. Ophelia is hiding from an abusive relationship. They find each other grow up a little and help each other heal. Not a bad story, but nothing new either. I did find the snowboarding very interesting. This is first in the series. The ARC was given to me by NetGalley for an honest review. I read these books backwards and I'm so glad I did. I would have hated having to wait to find out what happens to Ash and Logan. Z and Ophelia are such a great couple. They are both scarred and tortured by things that happened in their past. They blame themselves for things they had no control over, and only the belief and love of another person can really heal that. Z was shredded, falling apart and no one could really see just how bad he was emotionally. It took someone who has seen that type of thing before to really see what was happening. They have a sexual chemistry that pulled them to each other but with every second look they could see beyond the masks they wore and really connected with the person that they saw. The writing of the book is just as great as #2. I love her style and her take no prisoners unapologetic style. The characters she writes are so gritty and real. They are not glossy and perfect. They don't fall in "instalove." But they build up to love. I can't wait to read more of her work. Maybe in order this time.
Great book! Love how Ophelia manage Z mind and help he get over his trauma. good summer reading! !
