Shrinking Violet (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

I am really disappointed that the first book I read in 2014 is a 2 star one. To tell the truth it may have been my expectation that let e down than the actual book. As I have already said before I am a big fan of under dog stories. Those people that overcome adversities and show there true potential. But the problem with any underdog story is the challenge to keep the character consistent. Of course motivation is a factor but it is always the consistency that counts. So what if you are shy o the point of being labelled dumb if you have the right motivation you can be anything. Is that what we want to hear? Is that how it happens?Okay so we have a girl who can't open her mouth in public but she does a lot of blabbering in her mind. She dreams of being a radio jockey and loves music. Then one thing leads to another and she notices for the first time a guy in her class and he notices her too. It is more like he noticed her first and she being the shy who no one notices immediately fell for him. Then she gets a job at the radio station and fills in for one of the missing jockeys. Says one or two lines and becomes an overnight sensation. I still don't get how everything happened so fast but next thing we know all the kids in her school are listening to the radio and all loves her. But she is still paranoid about keeping her identity a secret. Just when she is getting used to her new found fame the radio station announces a contest. The one in which she is the grand prize. Can she keep her secret for long now? What happens when everyone finds out that the dumb girl in class is the radio jockey they all love and admire. I wanted to like this book. But in simple words I would sum up how this book was.. it was boring. The main character was so annoying and inconsistent. Her feelings are all over the place and the supporting characters are not much fun either. The author instead of exploiting the plot which is ripe with potential seems to have taken the easy way out and delivered a book that is predictable to the extreme. If she had focused more on the radio aspect instead of the character's boring inner monologues the book would have at least been redeemable. A book that drags that is better left unread. when i first read the description of this book i was excited to read the book but when i read it, it turned out to be okay. not the type of book i would rave about. The book was really unrealistic. I mean sure a person can be shy, but i fail to understand how can a person be so shy that she cannot speak in front of people. you would think that Tere was deaf. Nevertheless it was an okay book not too bad either. But i thought that there would be songs written in this book (i really love reading those) so yeah . i was dissappointed, but it wasnt really bad it still deserves three stars :)

What do You think about Shrinking Violet (2009)?

Have you guys ever seen radio rebel by Disney? I think it was made from this book. Interesting.....

You know the synopsis sounds suspiciously, a whole lot like Radio Rebel. Hmmm...

Cute, but writing could be improved.
