Sidney Sheldons After The Darkness (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
Sidney Sheldon’s AFTER THE DARKNESS by Tilly Bagshawe is the story of a billionaire manager Lenny Brookstein and his young wife, Grace, who was born rich and with a life of freedom to do as she pleased. With hard work and amazing monetary insight, Lenny raised himself from a life of dismal poverty to being a billionaire. In spite of their age difference, Grace can’t imagine life without Lenny, until he is killed in a boating accident which is later ruled as a suicide. Because of scheming with the funds prior to his death, all the money seems to have disappeared when Lenny died. At first, Grace is blamed for it all and tried for fraud. All she knew including friends, family, and money vanishes. All she has left is to work to clear her husband’s name, and her own. It is then we see the strong woman Grace really is.!!The main character of Grace Brookstein somewhat reminds me of one of Sidney Sheldon's best heroines in the novel that I loved, "IF TOMMOROW COMES". The protagonist at the first is going happy-go-lucky and then at one instant is thrown to jail, and then you see her transform in such a way, that she becomes a role model. Yes! I am talking about the likes of "TRACEY WHITNEY"!! There are plenty of times, that she came in my mind reading this novel and I can't help but was constantly comparing her with grace!!The writer creates strong, well-developed characters that involved the reader as you cheered for them or rooted against them. The author has given the reader a suspense filled story with so many twists and turns as it speeds along that you can’t put the book down.(which is the layout of general Sidney novels). I loved the fact at the end that I really had not seen what was coming. As a long time fan, I would like to think that Sidney Sheldon would be very pleased with the marvelously written mystery filled with conspiracy, betrayal and suspense. It made the ideal, entertaining story and I hope you will do as well. The key to this novel is not its characters, but rather, it's crazily spun out web of a plot. Though it started out slow, the novel eventually turned into quite the page-turner. It was an entirely gripping read simply because I had to find out what was going to happen next -- who the suspects really were, their individual motives, their tangled web of relationships, the next plot twist that would occur and how it would all go down in the end. It was exciting and glamorous and intense; I immensely enjoyed going along for the ride.Though the characters are not central to my attraction to the novel, I could not help but admire Grace Brookstein. I didn't like her at the very beginning because she seemed a little too naive and dependent on other people for my tastes. But as the novel progressed, I witnessed her transformation into a cunning, intelligent, independent and fearless individual - and I think I could kind of admire her for finally standing on her own two feet, despite certain questionable choices and incidents. All in all, it's a pretty good read - and definitely one should try!! But RAGE OF ANGELS and IF TOMMOROW COMES are still THE BEST among this lot!!STORY - 7CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT - 9ENVIRONMENT - 7WRITING STYLE - 8OVERALL - 7.75VERDICT - A Sidney Sheldon Novel. If you haven't read anyone lately, you can go for this one! If you are unknown to it, go it for sure!! 100% recommended for that case! Otherwise, it's a one time(maximum three times) read!! See, what goes out for you!! Happy Reading, anyhow!! Another nice one by Tilly Bagshawe. She is no doubt standing up to the standards of Sidney Sheldon with same style. Only stereo type and as expected part of the novel was that everyone betrays and every one has an affair with every other person you can think off. Also the part i didn't like was , escape from Prison is treated like a mockery and has been portrayed a cake walk as it happens twice with ease. All said and done, I liked the climax and definitely worth a one time read.
What do You think about Sidney Sheldons After The Darkness (2010)?
A predictable end to the story undermined whole of the plot. These are my personal view on book.
