I had really high hopes for this series because I've heard a lot of people like it, but I wasn't bowled over by the first book. It's decent and sexy and I'm a little in love with Sinjin myself... but the storyline is so typical for a historical, and the scenes are so "choppy". The author is so quick with everything, there is no real pacing or descriptive text or anything. It's just "this happened" and "she did this" and "they went there". Sometimes I end up skimming a book because it is TOO wordy... this one has the opposite problem! My first book by Julia Templeton and I enjoyed reading it. I read both this book and the third book, Rory, back to back.(Skipped over Victor) In both cases, I think the female character is really under-developed. It doesn't provide the same depth to the characters I am use to reading and the story line is predictable but it does have some very steamy sex scenes. Then again, it may simply be the writing style of Erotica Historical Romance. Not sure the book is worth $9 but it was a good read.
What do You think about Sinjin (2009)?
Not big on historical type books, but Templeton didn't dwell on it and instead gave a hot goodread!
