“…hospital, might have a concussion…” “drunk, can’t get pulled over…” “Probably half passed out when he hit his head….” “he’ll be fine…” …”keep him awake for a while, watch his eyes…” I drifted off with the motions of the car lulling me into a sleep. It took the three girls to get me out of the car. I was little more than dead weight for a second until I woke up enough, and when I was standing I just needed somebody close enough so I could hold on to them for stability. Then it was soft and warm. They must have laid me down on Sarah’s bed. Her single bedroom house wasn’t big enough for a couch this comfy. I wiggled my toes, flexed my fingers.. I was definitely alright. I could hear the girls talking from another room, then a toilet flushing. Figures, girls always use the restroom together. I don’t pretend to get it, but that’s life. I hoped the babysitter would understand the hangover clause or I hoped my wife would give her a big tip!!
