Slaying The Badger: LeMond, Hinault And The Greatest Ever Tour De France (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Fascinating account of a tour I knew nothing about. As I already like LeMond I can't work out whether I'd made up my mind about who I was rooting for from the beginning or whether the book itself failed to be even handed in its account, but in any event it was a great read and I have subsequently watched lots of Hinault and LeMond videos on YouTube and now want to read more about the subject, which is a hallmark of a good book in my, er, book. Really liked David Millar's opinion on Hinault's conduct in the epilogue too. Most people who pick up this book will already be fairly familiar with the back story and with many of the characters involved. That said, Richard Moore's attempt to understand the motivations and true natures of LeMond and Hinault will shed new light for everyone. Additionally, his conversations with and descriptions of some of the others involved in the story, from enigmatic to 'Kooky', were also enlightening.
