Jake is surprised by this yet sets out to prove her wrong on both counts. Can Maddie trust herself? Can Jake convince Maddie of his feelings? What secret is lurking around? Your answers await you in Slow Hands. So, first, I have to admit I chose to read this cuz the main character's name was also Maddy and I don't see that very often. I was surprised at how much I liked this book, I could relate to the Ice Queen. The drama in this romance was tolerable for the most part. characters were believable 90% of the time. Bedroom scenes? Hot. I'd almost be willing to give this five stars if it wasn't for a few things that irked me:1. Jake is constantly labeled as a gentlemen in this book. This rings true in the second half of the story, but for the first few chapters I felt he was like the kind of guy you'd meet at a bar. Laying on the compliments a little too thick and not being subtle about what he wants to do to you...came off slightly creepy to me.2. After a few steamy scenes we hit a snag were after one character speaks we have to analyze a sentence or two with a paragraph of feelings and doubt. A simple conversation takes pages to get through.3. SPOILER: I felt the whole "I love him, he loves me, we both know it, but i've been hurt before" bit was beaten into the ground at the end. I got it the first time. Besides that thou, it really was a good book. The characters were well done, which is my favorite element to stories.
