I don't know if this book falls in the category of sci-fi or PNR? I am thinking PNR because the guys have some animalistic characteristics. So Erica is talked into going to a fancy party at Luna Lodge with her best friend Kate. And Kate's, super creepy boyfriend Mark. Of course the party turns into a war zone and Erica gets thrown together with Sol. The upshot being the almost all male population of Luna Lodge are outed as genetically modified super-soldiers.Erica is spunky and likeable. And Sol is suitably growly and territorial of Erica from the moment they meet. He is pretty much clueless about dealing with Erica, but is very eager to please when they end up giving into the sexual tension. ;-) Madison Stevens gives us snippets of information about how the guys were created and their background. Not too much though, she tends to focus on the relationship between Sol and Erica and the action surrounding Luna Lodge. There isn't any real mention of how they escaped from captivity and how they came to settle Luna Lodge. Of course there is the evil Horatius group who created them and is the main adversary to a safe community. This whole concept has been done before. Laurann Dohner with her 'New Species' series and the 'Breed' series by Lora Leigh have really, really similar story lines. I read a few reviews that had a problem with the similarities. The more I thought about it the less it seemed to be a issue for me. So other authors have travelled the same ground. What about the million of vampire romances out there? Or cowboy romances? Yes, they all have something in common. Normally a pale guy who looks good with fangs in the first and a tanned guy who looks good on a horse in the second. But the story and personalities in-between can be wildly different. The writing was good and the action well paced enough to keep me interested. I enjoyed Sol enough that I read the next two in the series in quick succession and will read the next in the series when it is released , hopefully this month. The reason that i started to read this book was Beacuse i had read and fallen in love with the series New Species by Laurann Dohner. Both books followed the Sam consept of people who had Been genmodified into a different spices. In Both cases with animal DNA. These people was then rescued amd are now to live in the sociaty. Alone comes bad people good people and romance. The storie lines of Both books are exactly the Same but Luna Lodge doesn't quite reach the Same quality that New species has. Therefore I do like this book but I can't love it.
What do You think about Sol (2000)?
Excellent first book in a new series, I look forward to reading the next.

It's lot like the Breeds by Lora Leigh and New Species by Laurann Dohner
