Sold Out (2003) - Plot & Excerpts

I really am loving this series. Lots of interesting things happened in this book with the characters and with the band in general. I still related to this book but differently and not much mainly because I am obviously not in a band (but that would be awesome!!!). I still really liked the poems/song/prayers but not as much as I did in the first book and I don't know why but I found myself just reading them really quickly and wanting to get on to the next chapter, This sometimes with other books that have things like a quote that's at the beginning of the chapter, sometimes I just really enjoy the quote and sometimes I just want to read the next chapter and see what the characters are doing. I highly recommend this series. But just like with the Kim books I don't see myself re-reading them, although I would see myself re-reading them more than the Kim books, because I do like them better.

The music industry plot keeps the book moving, and the band members keep it interesting. They tackle date rape in this one, which surprised me a bit. That's a lot for teens to deal with, but also a reality, I'm sure. However, that was not my reality in high school, or college for that matter (thankfully!). It'll be interesting to see what book 3 brings. I like the main theme of the story, that Chloe is "sold out" for God. It makes me think what am I sold out for? and hopefully teens will ask themselves the same question.

What do You think about Sold Out (2003)?

Despite popular opinions, I didn't like this book. It's basically the same plot as Carlson's other novels. Backstory, girl meets boy, don't date boy, someone gets assaulted, happy ending.I was not a fan.

This is a really great book! Well written and the characters are great. The couple that I had long been waiting to get together is finally in a great spot. Thought the plot was definitely worthy of a "WHO DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING?", it was still wonderful. The diary layout is amazing, you get to really hear what is going on with Chloe's life by reading her thoughts-literally!The only problem is the author's age and the year this was written. No one wears Doc Martens or bell bottoms OR says "Right on!" anymore! Plus, I think there was one mentioning of the word "groovy" in there. . . .
