Soltice: A Novel Of The Zombie Apocalypse (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I didn't care for this book. The pacing was sluggish and haphazard. I struggled to care for any of the characters. It was compelling enough to finish. However, I hate not finishing a book. I also read this after a very bad book, which left me feeling like it was at least well written. By which I mean she followed rules of grammar and appeared to be a well educated writer. I don't think that falls in her favor, because as I already stated the pacing of the book failed to create or maintain any emotional tension. Even when a Mother was trying to kill her baby, nothing. It fell emotionally flat and I didn't actually get to a place where I could feel the child was in danger. This book has a lot of plotlines, but pretty much go nowhere. It started good, but there were really much more compelling plotlines than the romantic relationships that sadly had the main focus. There were alot of exciting plotlines that started, but never went anywhere, like the sanctuary, the raiders in the church, and a lot of characters with potential that died too soon. And always in the back of your mind is the nagging feeling that unless the sun does show up again, there's no hope for survival anyway; nothing can grow, and the supply of nonperishable food is not infinite.
What do You think about Soltice: A Novel Of The Zombie Apocalypse (2012)?
A good horror story, but I did not care for the ending. Still, worth a read.
