Some Are Sicker Than Others (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This was the first book that I've ever read that had me so hooked that I scheduled reading into my day. Also, I don't know how to write a real in depth review like most people on this site, so I'll just sum it up in my own simple words. I felt that this book was very well written. There are smooth transitions between the 3 characters. Each character has a unique inner monologue. There were a few funny parts, and I even was nearly moved to tears a few times. I really enjoyed the graphic nature and the in depth description in this book. It was hard to get through some parts because they were so nauseating, but that's how it should be. Addiction is not pretty. This book is written in a way that is very easy to follow. I don't really know what else to say. I'm very new at reading for pleasure. I hope this can help someone, sorry it's such a scattered review. I really loved this book. It was a captivating story of three people who struggle with addiction. The level of detail in the story really magnifies the seriousness of the illness of addiction. The author does not shy away from describing horrifying situations. The stories are so sad and so real. And the best part for me was that the book ended the way it should end. The author stayed true to the characters, their stories, and didn't sugar coat anything. I was captivated and moved through the entire book.Update: It's been several weeks since I finished this book. I cannot stop thinking about it and how good it was. I rarely reread books, but I think I will reread this one.
