The 3rd novel in Jenkins' latest series of books devoted to the mythical small town, Henry Adams, continues with the trials and tribulations of a small community looking to define and shape itself. It is a beautiful allusion - a small, independent, well-to-do, thriving, Black town where folks want to to do the right thing by God and by themselves. I want to live in a place like this!! Anyway, back to Earth...I did enjoy the book, except there were too many relationships going on for me, I found it difficult to keep track of who was with who, who used to be with who, and who wanted to be with who! I am still a Jenkins fan, and I am sure there will be another book in this particular series. We have to see what happens to Bernadette! Third book in the series and let me just say I was way to emotionally invested in this book. This book mainly focuses on Devon the eight year old preacher. Bernadine warned the foster parents that it would take time for the kids to show who they were and oh boy did Devon show out. There were parts when I wanted to get my belt for his butt. LOL. I can't tell you much about Zoe because it would be a spoiler. There are some very funny parts in this book and I mean laugh out loud funny parts. There is some sadness as well. Beverly writes a complete story that makes you feel as if you are in that town seeing the events unfold.
What do You think about Something Old, Something New: A Blessings Novel (2011)?
I love the story of this town and its inhabitants! Looking forward to the next one.
