This book is sweet, sexy and simple. Sometimes simple is just right. It contains very very little angst and focuses on the development of a May/December romantic relationship between 21 year old Josh who is an artist and a college student & Tony, a 45 year old, very sexy and handsome, landscaping business owner. Josh is trying to find his way to his future and Tony is finding his way emotionally after his 17 year relationship with another man comes to an end. The two meet through what could be called fate. The love affairs begins the night they meet. No, they don't sleep together that first night. They share something that is much more special to them. This isn't insta-love. Their feelings for each other grow as the story develops. They do have some doubts about the relationship; however, they usually come to their senses pretty quickly, until........(I'm not going to tell you the "until"). Now, the sex between the two characters is so sensual and smoking hot. You won't be disappointed. You really get a good sense of the deep feelings the two characters have for each other through how they make love to one another. So, if you are in the mood for a realistic, May/December romance with very little angst, read this book. It is a keeper. Well the usual long Amber Allure blurb tells it all. Tony is 45 and his lover of 18 years has left him to “find himself”. A late night trip down memory lane at a diner has him meeting Josh, a young waiter. He knows he’s an old fool but Josh invites him to his art opening and they end up back at Tony’s place afterward. Tony is sure this is just a fling and that Josh couldn’t be interested in him, but as time passes, they become closer and Josh is not your normal 21 year old college student. He likes older music and TV shows and is more down-to-earth than most kids his age. However a friend’s health scare makes Tony realize what could happen as he ages and Josh is young and he tries to push him away. When Josh has the opportunity for a job in LA, they have a slight falling out.I’m not a huge fan of May/December romances because I tend to think they are slightly doomed, but I think the fact that Josh was more mature than most made this one work well enough for me. Personality/interest wise, the two didn’t seem to be that far apart. I could also understand Tony’s thinking when he had his little crisis. Sure he behaved like a bit of an ass, but people do.I also liked some of the secondary characters, including Tony’s friends who were a bit freaked out by him dating such a young guy, and Josh’s roommates, along with Tony’s elderly client who offers him relationship advice and even the little shit who scams Tony at the diner.There’s not much drama and plot beyond the temporary separation, and it is a romance so you know they’ll work it out, but it’s just the realistic advancement over months (rather than days … or minutes) of a relationship between two people, albeit with a significant age difference. It’s been sitting in my TBR since Nov. 2010 with no particular reason I hadn’t cracked it open, but I’m glad I did. It was a nice stress-free read.
