Stillwell: A Haunting On Long Island (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Paul is saddened by the recent loss of his wife and trying to put his life back together. He is trying to grant her wish that the family go back to normal when she passed. What is normal will never be normal again. Paul and his son begin to dream of a demon, his daughter says she sees mommy in the house. How do you return to your life when everything is so different?I do not typically read this kind of novel, but was engaged from page one. We are led through one week of his life and the author does an amazing job of tying all the working parts together. Paul discovers that ghosts really do exist and have a story to tell. Against his better judgement, he is continuously drawn back to Stillwell to solve the mystery. From start to finish this book was great. I could not put it down and the author tied up the end perfectly! If you like a good mystery/thriller you will not be disappointed. 5 fangs. Life can take a downward spiral for any of us at any time, but strong survival and sanity drives take over. Following a tragedy then a push to return to normalcy the central character does what we all must do, return to work and resume life. The recent death of the love of his life and his refusal to let go may have an influence on the events he is soon witness to. Ghost, apparition, spirit, call it what you will. Bring the subject up in a group and watch the eyes of the individuals. Some eyes will roll with what the owner feels is the appropriate facial expression. Others will give quick darting looks, questioning looks, who is going to jump in first? At a family gathering where no one is a stranger opinions are voiced on the subject with varying events being pointed out. Believe or not, admit your beliefs or withhold them, either way the story must go on. And so it does as the central character comes to grips with life and the sightings that enlighten and light the way. Written in a manner that has the reader on the sidelines as an observer, and with a touch of writer’s liberties this is an enjoyable read. The reader must go with the flow at times as most any well written attempt to captivate demands. A five star enjoyable read.
