Stormy Montana Sky (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I so enjoy this series! It is a nice refreshing change from the contemporary romances. While I do enjoy the more graphic and perhaps somewhat hasty relationships of the contemporary romances, subtler ones such as these that leave more to the imagination and are a bit more wholesome are a welcome palette cleanser. In all three titles of this series I've read so far Holland really lets the romantic tension build and simmer. There is always a bit of suspenseful action to ratchet things up a bit as well which I thoroughly enjoy. While religion does play a role (something I think is an accurate portrayal of early settler life) it is not preachy or overwhelming, something I find somewhat rare in the american historical romance genre. I'm definitely open to suggestions of other series that read similarly to Holland's if you have any to share! Oh how I loved it! Debra Holland has built a beautiful community in the fictional town of Sweetwater, Montana in the 1890's. Although the people of the town face some serious problems, and not all the people in the community are perfect, the main characters are wonderful and the stories are warm and hopeful. I was thrilled to win a copy of Stormy Montana Sky after having read some of the stories in A Sweetwater Christmas, especially since I had already decided that I had to get to know the people of that growing western town better.Stormy Montana Sky focuses on the local school teacher, Harriet Stanton who thinks she is in love with a friend who just got married, that is until she is rescued by tall, dark, Anthong "Ant" Gordan a correspondent who has given up his travels in Europe to looking for his nephew, David. Little does she know that he is also seeking his abusive brother-in-law to avenge the murder of his sister. She is a strong, intelligent, and admirable woman, and he has depths and a past that bring deep emotion to this wonderful story.
