At the farm, a hen misses one of her baby chicks. Her baby is stuck in the mud and the mama hen goes to help. Soon she is stuck in the mud as well. One by one, the other farm animals try to help, but everyone gets stuck in the mud.But then, it turned out that the baby chick was never stuck! He was just playing in the mud.Featured at the Huntsville Public Library Story Hour--"Mud and Dirt" theme, July 2013.Sean rated the book 8 stars.Bryce gave it 10 stars.Obviously a hit! One morning, Hen wakes to find one of her chicks is "stuck in the mud, and the mud's deep and thick!" As animal after animal comes to the rescue, each gets stuck in the mud. Soon, the mud puddle is pretty full, so Chick jumps out - he was never stuck in the first place. Cute for farm themes, cute for readers' theater, the easy rhymes and repetition make this a nice read-aloud where little ones can chime in, but nothing remarkably new.

Ryan laughs at the end every single time. Cute book.
