Stuff White People Like (to Talk About): 50 Ways To Start Conversations With Caucasians (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
It was funny, I enjoyed it. I kept pausing throughout the entire book though, as I had other things I had to read first, and this book was considerably shorter than my college textbooks. It was sarcastic, funny, and pretty much true. I like that at the end of the book you were able to tally up your points and see "how white you are". For those interested, I scored 119, and fell just one point short of being 80% white. I like to consider myself 79.9% because of that. I had to show this book to my Dad, and my brother even thumbed through it. My brother and I laughed at a couple lists in particular, one on movies and the other on music. It was funny because unfortunately, we both own almost everything that was on both of those lists. Anyway, if you enjoy books in a list format, or enjoy satirical humor, you should check this one out. It's funny, short, and easy to read. And you could easily read it in a day, but I was stupid and kept putting it off. ;) I honestly don't think there could have been a more repetitive book. It was almost awfully boring to read all the way through. Two things I love about this book: its infrequent ability to amuse me through the mockery of stuck-up, uncultured people of North America, and it's satirical accusations towards common things we justify as right or correct. It almost makes me want to hate myself... Favorite chapters: awareness, foreign adoption, and gifted children.
What do You think about Stuff White People Like (to Talk About): 50 Ways To Start Conversations With Caucasians (2011)?
Amusing. But really about affluent, liberal white people. Still funny.
