This book runs parallel to Picture Perfect.Josephine (Joey) Daly is best friends with Catt from Picture Perfect. She promised her father on his death bed that she would go to medical school and become an oncologist. Problem is she is three years into pre-med, not doing well in her classes, and feeling miserable.She signs up for a business class and gets paired with William Hawkins (Hawk) for a project. He rides a motorcycle, has tattoos and is the exact opposite of Joey. He says what he wants and does what he wants, and tilts Joey's world on its head.Good book. Josephine made a promise to her dad when he was dying. Her father was a well respected oncologist, ironically dying of cancer. He wanted her to follow in his family’s footsteps and become a doctor. He made sure there would be enough money put aside in a trust fund to ensure her dream. But whose dream is it really? So Joey is at Temple so loaded down with course work she has no time for fun, friends or relationships. But she knows she has to fulfill her father’s dream. She finds herself shadowing a former colleague of her father’s at a pediatric oncology facility and wonders if she can detach herself enough to do this job on a daily basis. The doctor she is shadowing seems to have little problem distancing herself from it. Joey’s course loads requires that she take a business elective. On her first day of class a tattooed, sleepy bed head guy walks in, late of course and takes the seat next to hers. She ends up getting paired with him for a group presentation. If he had in fact stayed awake during the class maybe she would have a better feeling about him. Hawke is a bit of an enigma. They are forced to spend some time together to work on their project. But he is always late and constantly has drama going on. He works at a restaurant and by all appearances he is a pretty good cook. He has dreams that he keeps hidden from others. He has a sister, Olivia and he takes his responsibility to her very seriously. They have loss and tragedy in their lives. The more time Hawke and Joey spend together the more they open up to each other, and in some respects the more apparent it becomes that there are fundamental differences between them. Hawke chose a partnership for the two of them owning a restaurant as their project. Joey wanted to do it on the medical practice she hoped to own one day. Which is the dream and which is the reality? I enjoyed reading about the progression of their romance and enjoyed the witty banter between the two of them. Like all good romances, this one has some nice, juicy angst, a bad boy who is really a good guy and lots of drama.
