I hadn't read anything by Ella Ardent before getting "Submission," so I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow..I was somewhat surprised to find a pleasantly steamy and interesting story. Although the plot -- nosy reporter gets admitted to BDSM club -- has been done to death, somehow Ardent manages to make the characters fresh. Joanna, the reporter, inveigles her way into The Plume, only to find a lot more than she bargained for. Rex is a Dom who recognizes Joanna as a childhood friend, and performs the 'introductions' the activities for Plume members. Mike, Joanna's co-worker, has a history with The Plume, but he's closed that part of his life, so I guess we'll find out more about Mike in upcoming sequels. Athena, Rex's business partner at The Plum, is the requisite bitchy Domme. This is the first installment of a series, which is rather aggravating (and expensive)...but I'll probably buy them anyway. What a fantastic story!! And when I got it it was free on Amazon.co.uk!!I think it's the first erotica story I've read where it's not had any elements where I've been like "really?!? Oh God NO!!! Stop it, that's just not sexy!!" I know everyone is in to different things though so this book might just better suit what I like. I like the characters and the fact that both parties enjoy and consent to what is happening as in some books one of the characters, usually the submissive, at times are really uncomfortable with what is happened where as the characters in this book are loving life. Would recommend to someone looking for this type of book as it's not too hard core and does actually have character development.
What do You think about Submission (2000)?
