Loved this book. I earmarked several pages with really thought provoking paragraphs. For someone from a small town with friends whom I knew from when I was 4, this book strikes a chord. It has the beach, New England, pre-teen-girl stuff (macrame bracelets, riding bikes, talking about liking boys, etc) and grown-up "I'm somewhat like what I used to be...but somewhat different" sections.I really liked this book and didn't want it to end. I'm 1/2way thru and I am enjoying it. I picked this up after reading a review for "The Summer of Us" by the same author. Mom took it on vacation and I will read that when she returns. Summer Friends goes back 20 years and switches to current day. It shows how people changes and make different choices and how that can not only change a friendship but sometimes "kill" one. Will update when I.m done.
Good book, light easy read. Worth the read but not one of the best I have read.
