Being handled roughly did not agree with her, it seemed. As if it would agree with anyone… She shuddered; moving across more than just her skin, it felt as though it were soul deep. Her mouth went dry at the memory of Jacques’s eyes when he’d looked at her. The man was a demon. No, she wouldn’t give him that sort of hold over her.
