Sworn (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

This book my have been short but it was still too long! Rachel was incredibly annoying. And the insta-love thing just wasn't working for me in this novel. 96% of this book focused on random aspects in her life and only the last 2 chapters spoke of Benji......... And the "fight" scene I was in tears from laughing so hard on how pathetic this all tied in. I will NOT be reading the following books in the series. *** some minor spoilers***I haven't finished this book, and I probably wont.First off, Rachel is supposed to be this likable and smart girl, but just seems kind of shallow to me. All she seems to care about is being popular, and getting with this hot football player. Another thing that I find makes her so unlikable, is that she seems to hate her sister for liking bad music and being too popular and happy, but so far her sister Sarah has been quite nice to her, even offering to not join the cheerleading squad if Rachel feels bad about not making it.Then there's the writing; There's too much unnecessary detail, and at the same time too little detail. I mean, I know the brand of every single make-up in her bag, the brand of her bag and even the folder, but I have no idea what Mr. Allan, the main teacher, looks like. I don't know what her father, mother, or brother look like, they're just talking cardboard cutouts as far as im concerned. Then there's her name, Rachel, why is it said so much? Her name is in almost every single paragraph. Does her name really need to be repeated over and over again if we know she's alone in the room? It was driving me mad. Rachel, Rachel, Rachel... Glad it wasn't Bettlejuice or we'd be in trouble.
