This story had potential but it didn't quite live up to expectations. I thought the story line was quite interesting, with Ana falling in love with her mother's BF but the mom takes off leaving Ana and Jake to explore their feelings for each other. In the mix of all this was a serial killer that they had to catch and was personally threatening Ana...exciting if you ask me. Really...it had potential. But...writing style was off. I don't know what it was but it just didn't flow all that much and I was totally disconnected with the characters. I couldn't get into the story all that much so at 60% in I gave up and started speed reading and skimming. Much of the book was sex and although kind of hot, it got boring. Character wise...this really bugged me. It totally reminded me of "FIFTY SHADES OF GREY". Now...I love FSOG...but this was a poor rendition of the characters. From the lip thing that Ana does to Jake's overbearing alpha male nature, it had me cringing because it was nothing like FSOG but tried hard to remind me of it. Oh and even the plot with what Ana went through with the serial killer, it all reminded me of FSOG. Nope...sorry...that didn't fly with me at all. Lastly...both are named Ana! Ending was a forced cliffhanger...at least let me have some closure with this book! But no... left me hanging but only made me more disappointed so I won't be continuing on to the sequel. Why oh why do authors do this ?? You ruined your own book by the careless spelling ,missing words and damn awful grammar!What 22 year old young woman adds "My dear " to the end of a sentence to a young teenage boy.There was just no consistency,one minute they are talking normally to each other ,the next they are being ridiculously formal.No flow and so many misspelt words it was embarrassing.Couldn't you have bothered to take the time to ask someone to proof read it ?The plot should have been exciting and passionate and whilst there were some very good erotic scenes none of it came together and flowed normally .Their reactions ,the dialogue ,the relationship ....none of it was believable and I finally gave up at 80%.This could have been a good story with a little more care and effort .
