Take The Stairs: 7 Steps To Achieving True Success (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
A positive uplifting book that provides an easy read for motivation & encouragement to getting necessary work done. I kept going back to the book whenever I needed inspiration to get moving & into that "productive" mindset Vaden clearly points the reader towards. While I throughly enjoyed the book as a whole, there was just one lengthy example provided in the commitment section that I found particularly disturbing. It was titled "Unwavering Belief" on page 65 and details a woman who attributes being a mother to her deaf son and her commitment to getting him to hear, at all costs, to her success as a CEO in healthcare. I was disappointed and unprepared to find that such an otherwise positive Vaden would unwittingly include such a disturbing example of the medical model of discrimination that is so harmful towards the disabled community, including the deaf son cited, as inspiration.Otherwise, a wonderful book! Excellent book! Many of us make all sorts of excuses for why we did not go to college, bought the house of our dreams when we had the chance, traveled the world when the opportunity presented itself, to name a few, but in reality what we lacked were these qualities: sacrifice, commitment, focus, etc. that would have made a world of difference. The book will go you through each step and point out clearly what you need to do to achieve your goals.
