Taking Out The Trailer Trash (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
I loved Janet Evanovich's Stephaine Plum series, but somewhere around book number ten or so (I made it to 13) I got bored. Same old, same old. Don't get me wrong, I love her books but enough is enough. I wanted something new and in that style. And I found it right here with Taking Out the Trailer Trash. Funny, engaging - and similar in the respect that you have a woman in over her head trying to figure out a mystery. Well done - give this book a try. Janice Ivy does a wonderful job of bringing the Happy Times trailer park to life with a colorful cast of characters. Everyone from Charlene, the park manager, to Darcy and Teddy, the young and dumb couple, to Maggie the feisty old lady. Charlene wants nothing more then to be left alone to write her novels but when residents of the park turn up dead, it's her, that everyone comes running to for answers. Not wanting to be involved, Charlene tries very hard to stay out of it, but that's not in the cards and soon discovers that she is now a target. This cozy mystery has enough twists to through you off the trail. There's a sprinkle of old fashion romance and enough who dunnit to keep you reading. Maggie was by far my favorite and she certainly provided a lot of the page turning for me.
