I've never really been a fan of short stories. Thought I'd give this a go purely because the stories revolve around the characters I'm already familiar with. But honestly these stories didn't need to be written. Most of them are just back stories of the characters, love stories that could have been summed up in a paragraph or two. Wouldn't recommend anyone read this, unless they're just desperate to read everything Armstrong has written. This is my first exposure to Kelley Armstrong. I bought this book for a dollar, and it's worth at least it's cover price. I don't know if the rest of her books are as intriguing and well-written, but I definitely intend to find out!As for the stories themselves, they are satisfying, compelling, emotionally evocative, and very enjoyable, not even knowing the larger context. This book is well worth the investment of time and money!
