Talking Dirty With The Boss (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

4,75 starsI wanted to read this book the moment I finished the previous one (TALKING DIRTY WITH THE PLAYER) and suspected who the main couple was going to be. Unfortunately it wasn't out yet and due to circumstances I missed it when it did release. Now that I've finally managed to read it, I'm so happy I did becausecit was everything I hoped and expected it would be. I couldn't tear myself away from this book for long and read it in almost one sitting. Although a few things were off (Pill, Luke's seemingly sudden turnabout fatherhood) I really enjoyed this book. The book tugged on my emotions big time and seeing the pieces slowly fall into place for the characters more than made up for the minor inconsistencies. I remain in awe of Jackie Ashenden's ability to take on heavy subjects like OCD and incorporate them into her romances without making it heavy-handed or awkward. Luke and Marisa were awesome. Flawed and imperfect and both giving each other a run for their money, which is exactly how I like my main couples to be. I loved seeing them fall in love without knowing or acknowledging it yet it's so crystal clear to you as a reader and you're anticipating the realization and declaration moment. When a book gives you goosebumps, tingling and tears, you know it's a keeper and TAKLING DIRTY WITH THE BOSS definitely delivered on all counts! Because of the mentioned minor issues I cannot give this book the perfect 5-star rating stamp but it came pretty close!! I found this to be an interesting twist on the alpha male billionaire CEO love story. Being a Psychologist it's usually frustrating to read/watch how inaccurate authors/directors portray mental health professionals and mental illness. I was pleasantly surprised by Jackie's portrayal of OCD in Luke. She did a great job capturing and conveying the anxiety that is felt when the obsessive thoughts drive one's compulsive actions/behaviors. I do wish that Marisa a little more depth to her but she was still pretty relatable and I would probably be her friend.
