Terraços De Teerão (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

refreshing to find a novel concerning pre-revolution Iran, and kudos to the author for his zeal & enthusiasm, his dedication to this story is so, so clear. I love that he put so much heart into his writing. however, the characters were far too exaggerated, and never really seemed real to me. Ahmed was the only character that seemed realistically fleshed out. Unpopular opinion, because it seems like everyone else really loved this novel! It just didn't do it for me, especially that ending. This is definitely a 5-star ***** read! I read this back in 2010 and had to admit that it's one of my favourites. Although Im not from Iran, but I could totally relate to the characters and all that they've been through. A couple of really upsetting moments but I really couldn't put the book down from Page 1. The only thing perplexed me was that the Islamic component was kinda missing from the story from what I remember. you never really felt that the characters were Muslim or anything. I was wondering about their religion...

What do You think about Terraços De Teerão (2011)?

The writing almost seemed juevenile at the beginning, but started to improve as the book progressed. Overall, the story is captivating and I finished this book in two days. I do wish there would have been more description about Iran itself during this period, as the story seemed to just focus on four main characters with little description of what was happening outside of their alley in which they live. I would recommend it, though!

Absolutly loved this book. the author gave me so much insight to Iran i have a much better understanding to that culture. i love the explnantion of the cries and abusive actions when a love one passes, the brief mentioned of foods and how importnat faily is to this culture. i feel the great connection of the families in the alley, the children playing. They is so much in this book. I would recoomend it a great weekend read.
