The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 4 (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
I'm definitely glad I took my time reading this book. So many of these stories could be great as stand alone tales, but when put together it elevates to something really unique. I was worried about the change in art style in a lot of the issues of this final absolute volume but it didn't bother me and the art on the last couple issues was some of my favorite art of the entire series. Glad I finally read this truly one of a kind book. Ah, Sandman, how do I love thee, let me count the ways...1. I bought the original graphic novels as they came out, such brilliant artwork, The Dreaming such a nice setting for a set of stories.2. I bought the hardcovers, what lovely books to add to my shelves, worthy of a display in my living room... but the nephews and nieces better not touch! ;-)3. I bought the Absolute version... OK, now I'm just going overboard! This is not the first book I've ever bought multiple versions of, I can think of many others... off the bat... Watchmen, Kingdom Come, From Hell, Swamp Thing, Bone, MiracleMan, Batman, Ronin, V for Vendetta, Conan, Marvels, (and those are just the ones I can remember for now)And, ashamedly I must admit, should they ever publish a new edition that surpases the ones I already own, I would no doubt buy that one as well :-/
