I wanted to like this couple but no dice. I like a female lead to be a little troublesome but Lydia was quite foolish at times. I like the hero but it doesn't make sense why he'd like the heroine. The author should have made more scenes for their youth to have it make more sense why they dislike/pine for each other. The plot had two problems but they were both so weak that it made it uninteresting. I wish the hero could be used for something else because he was interesting. Together they brought out the dull in each other. I wish we had more drama with the aunt! That was at least interesting. Don't bother with this one. THE ACCIDENTAL DUCHESS (Fairbourne Quartet Book 4) by Madeline Hunter was, by far, the best book I've read so far this year. Set in 1799, this well-crafted story centers around Lady Lydia, a 24-year-old, unmarried sister of an earl. She enjoys gambling for the thrill as well as the money it provides for her charitable giving. But she makes one bet too many when she's blackmailed by someone who claims to have an incriminating manuscript she wrote years ago. The arrogant, dangerous Duke of Penthurst wins the right to her virtue. He has no intention of taking his winnings, but she doesn't know that - and she despises him for the duel that had him apparently killing the man she thought she loved. With a blackmailer and a backstory mystery carried over from the other Fairbourne Quartet books, this book has a very satisfying ending.
What do You think about The Accidental Duchess (2014)?
Boring, repetitive sex scenes - really who cares?
