When you read a book you can travel anywhere in the world. I have just got back from Hawaii and can't wait to return. Reading The Aloha Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini was such an interesting experience as it made me aware of the hobby of quilting. I have seen beautiful quilts on display at The New York State Fair and now I know how much work and thought are put into the making of those quilts. The characters in this book will draw you in to their lives and leave you wanting more. Please make a note to read this book. Aloha to you! Like most quilters I suppose, I had that one big project that I'd tired of and put aside for a year or more. I recently decided I had too much time and money invested in it not to finish it. So to help while quilting that boring border I listened to The Aloha Quilt on audio. It was far from my favorite Elm Creek book, but did provide distraction.In this one Bonnie Markham escapes from her failed marriage and failed quilt shop to visit her friend Claire in Hawaii. She helps Claire start a quilt camp at her bed and breakfast, makes new friends, and learns a lot about Hawaiian history. Admittedly Bonnie is at a rough point in her life, but I just found her to be way too bitter and judgmental to like her very much. The plot is predictable but pleasant.
I read this because we were going to Hawaii. Was entertaining, pretty light.
