The Ancient Alien Question: A New Inquiry Into The Existence, Evidence, And Influence Of Ancient Visitors (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Let me preface my comments with this: I like to be skeptical of everything equally - but sometimes especially science. Don't get me wrong, I love science - but I don't think scientists get it that even though we know some things, we still only know a tiny fraction of what there is to know. I wish I would hear more scientists saying things like, 'Based on what we understand right now, this is what appears to be true." As in, I'm humble and forward thinking enough to realize what we know now is not necessarily the be all and end all of 'the truth.' At the same time, I like those 'crazy' theories out there that can't be backed up by science YET to at least have some grounding in some type of evidence that I can trace to what the theory is proposing.Philip Coppens was (so sad that he passed away so young, when there's so much more to uncover in this ares) very well read and researched in this field. In this book he does a great job of presenting evidence, presenting science, and connecting the dots in a way that he makes sense in relation to how he see the answer to the ancient alien question without overwhelming the reader with too much data. If you want to go read more on your own, there are copious footnotes and sources for you to run with. In the end, he leaves it up to you to draw the same conclusions as he or come up with your own. He really wants it to be up to the reader. How novel! I appreciate it when someone gives me the respect of having my own brain and my own ability to draw my own conclusions! For those people who are well-versed in the world of the ancient alien question, there may not be much here that's new to you - although the information may be presented in a different way than you've seen before. For those people who aren't familiar with the world of the ancient alien question, this is a great resource to find out a large amount in a comparatively short time - with many options to take your reading further. Where this book excels where others lack, is in the impartiality of the facts presented. Each argument for and against is laid out to the reader. While Phillip Coppens concludes with giving us his opinion, he nevertheless leaves it to his readers to make their own conclusions. Meticulously researched and extremely well written. The field would greatly benefit from more researchers like Mr. Coppens.s
