The Anne Boelyn Collection (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I have had a huge fascination with the Tudor period for some time now, Anne Boleyn in particular. I am a big fan of hers. I'm not 100% sure where or when this fascination stems from, I only know it's there. As a relative newcomer to the Anne Boleyn files online I haven't yet had the chance to browse through all of the articles written on there so this book is perfect for me. I can read it all in one place.Being a fan of Anne Boleyn and reading various sources on her and the Tudor period in general, I inevitably come to my own conclusions and feelings about her (which, having read Claire's articles, are the same as her feelings and thoughts on Anne) but it is also interesting to read what other people think, feel and have said, especially those with opposing views. The things I love most about the Anne Boleyn files is that anything stated as fact has evidence to back it all up and myths are debunked for lack of it. I also like that Claire is not afraid to give her own interpretations of the evidence ... there's nothing more frustrating than reading theories but having an author not come down on one side or another. The only negative I have on the book is that I would have liked the date the article was published to have been with the title but that's just me being picky. This is a blog by a freelance writer turned into a book. It's heavy on the opinion, but opinion is extremely clearly labelled (better than most scholarly works, really). It's a good overview of not only Anne Boleyn's court career, but some basics in the wives of Henry VIII. It's *really* basic stuff and a lot of pop culture debunking of the Anne Boleyn myths. If you're dragged into her subject, her bibliography can't be beat. (I agree with her view of the Eric Ives' work as one of the best Anne Boleyn authorities)

What do You think about The Anne Boelyn Collection (2000)?

Because it is a compilation of blog posts, it was rather redundant. But interesting.
