Hands-down, FAVORITE picture book of the year! A rabbit tries to outrun the bigger, black rabbit that's following him--not realizing that it's his own shadow! No matter how fast he runs or swims, the shadow is right there, terrorizing him--or maybe rescuing him, too! There are moments where this could ALMOST be a bit dark...it's all about how you read it to the kiddles.Adorable illustrations! The first thing that actually came to my mind when I saw the cover of this book, "The Black Rabbit" was that this could actually be used in teaching a science lesson to maybe kindergarten or first grade students. Upon reading the story, I still felt that I could teach a science lesson on light and shadows and use a story such as this as a starting point for the lesson. The story itself is a tale about a rabbit that is being chased by his one time nemesis, the black rabbit (which is his shadow) only to find after much running, hiding, and exploring the world that he only escapes his foe by traveling into the dark woods, which then leads him into a real encounter with something.
What do You think about The Black Rabbit (2013)?
A cute & clever story...a big bad wolf makes just about every story better, right?!
