I liked the book but I didn't like Gus much. He knew what it was like to be left behind (by his parents) but he still dropped his grandmother and aunts for, lets face it, sex. Then his best friend gives him the best in a lawyer and he blows her off because she wasn't pretty which is disrespectful to his friend, to a good lawyer, and to the women that raised him. There is more about Gus I didn't like but I like all the other characters in the book as well as the storyline. I really like his exwife altho I thought she was headed for the funny farm so I was surprised that she left. When Gus Hollister's wife, Elaine, left all his belongings on the back deck, changed the locks on the house, and informed him that she wanted a divorce, it came completely out of the blue for him. Elaine had estranged Gus from his family, made up of his grandmother who brought him up, and her twin sisters. It took some doing for Gus to get back into their good graces. What he can't figure out though is what in the world they are doing in their large old house that they don't want him to know about. This is a fun book to read.
