Just what the doctor ordered to counterbalance the page-long descriptions and meticulous details in the detective story (by a different author) I read previously. I gobbled this gem up in one sitting last night. One can never go wrong with detective John Corey's sarcastic, deadpan approach to solving crimes. Oh, and I will be much more careful around long tall bookcases with questionable safety features from now on... I am a usually a huge fan of DeMille's books, in particular the Detective John Corey ones. This novella captured everything i like in a detective story, and the short story format was just right for this. It was really cool to see how, unlike many detective stories, he was able to work his way through this one fast, no steps skipped and yet tell a great but yes, simple story. I love me my John Corey stories.
What do You think about The Book Case (2011)?
Enjoyed this short detective work. Bought another in the series to continue. Recommended.
