The Butterfly's Daughter (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I found the book compelling..kind of a fictional companion to Jane Pauley's Your Life Calling. Monroe uses information about monarch butterflies in each chapter's beginning. The information relates both to the butterflies in the story and the journey of the characters. Strong women characters (the male characters are less well developed, but interesting and realistic.), Mexican culture, a little mysticism, nature, intersting and exoctic settings... just what I love! I thought this was overall a lovely story about mother and daughters, self-discovery, reconciliation, and healing. Parts of the story were slow, but the writing was really beautiful. My favorite part of this book was the interwoven story of the monarch butterfly. I learned so much about this fragile and resilient creature, and the amazing journey of the female monarch. I've gained a new appreciation for them.

What do You think about The Butterfly's Daughter (2011)?

Unfortunately this plot mirrored two others very closely so I found myself skimming at times.
