This book was recommended to me earlier in the month, and being a little Christmas story, I thought I'd give it a try. I had never read anything by this author before, and found this was a sweet story, humorous and sad at times, and maybe a bit predictable, but still an enjoyable read. A sad, lonely woman somewhat like Scrooge (Bah Humbug!) comes to terms with loss, reconnects with a very special person from her past, makes a few friends, discovers family in the most unexpected of places, & finally knows happiness. There are a few other surprises, but I don't wish to give them all away. Very quick read, made me laugh and cry. I would definitely read another book by this author. 4**** from me! Every one of her Christmas books has made me laugh and cry and given me inspiration. The Christmas Note does not fail. The characters are true-to-life and the storyline filled with twists, turns, and surprises. The introduction of each chapter with a quote, was a great touch and many warmed my heart or caused me to do some pondering. With a smidgen of mystery and intrigue, family problems, and characters who all have their own strengths and weaknesses, this story definitely keeps you turning the pages.
