The Christmas Sweater (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Normally I am not a huge Glen Beck fan. Mostly because I don't like extreme points of view, although I usually fall more in his side of the line. That's not the point tho. I went with my grandma in 2009 and watched his stage version of this story and I bawled like a baby. I went out and bought the book but never read it. Somehow over the years I lost it. About a month ago my wife and I found a copy at Deseret Industries for 50 cents. My wife and I read it together and I remembered why I loved this story so much. It holds the true meaning of Christmas within its pages. Christ is the reason that we celebrate Christmas and this story makes you think about your relationship with Christ and helps you remember that "I am worth it. He gave this gift to me". It is an amazing story and I would recommend it to everyone, especially during Christmas.

What do You think about The Christmas Sweater (2008)?

This story is written from the prospective of Eddie, a twelve year old boy who is at the threshold of his teen years and believes that even after the sudden death of his father, his life would be so much better if he finds the bike of his dreams under the Christmas tree. Instead, he finds a sweater, lovingly hand-knitted by his mother. When Eddie fails to understand the vast treasure he has in his family, the breakdown in their relationship begins. After his mother's tragic death, Eddie's sullen and spiteful attitude is like a brick wall that keeps those who love him unconditionally away. His road to maturity is difficult for everyone involved and made more painful by his choice to blame God and those around him for his lack of material things.
