This is a book about a club. About a club. That's it.I was hoping this would be a book with an interesting plot line, a little adventure, etc. etc. Overall, it was a huge disappointment. Don't get me wrong, the book has a plot line--a long, drawn out, 545-page plot line about a club. 300 pages are devoted to introducing the characters that work in/own this club. The remainder make a mediocre attempt to describe some sort of action, and the last 20 pages or so sum up the entire book and what happened to the club after.There is selective character development. You get a glimpse of who Tony Allen is, but what has he done? What makes people want to kill him other than him being mob? I don't know.. The author also makes a poor attempt (imho) of describing the budding romance or courting of two characters. They see each other for a bit because they work together, but they both think they're not available.. but despite that they fall in love with each other. He leaves for most of the book, she stays, he comes back and.. "Turning, Jenna saw him and threw a hand over her mouth. Seconds later she was in his arms, kissing him and telling him that she loved him too." Pathetic. There's nothing in there to make me believe that real love developed between the two characters. Maybe I'm mistaken about the whole thing. It was a quick, easy read, but it was one of the most pointless read I've had in a long time.I know the review doesn't say anything--I'm keeping it purposely vague not to spoil any plot lines, just in case someone has an inkling to read the book.
