This is a great book. I absolutely loved it. This is really an interesting novel about what real lives turns and trepidations take couples through. Real challenges, true down times, how we pull ourselves from difficult times and bottom down depression but absolute genuine success too. I wish to be inside the story, to be a character, to experience the emotions and really loved it. Today I found a French bakery and had a macaroon to treat myself and reminisce of this great book. You will too! 2 stars because I finished it. I had this idea about how it was going to end. It was a terrible idea. An idea that was ridiculous and predictable and frankly awful. I just had to find out how it ended. OMG. It ended almost exactly how I thought it would, except worse. Seriously. And I can't even say anything more in case you want to read it for yourself. I did however look up Macau on a map and on Wikipedia and learned a thing or two. So it was worth that. I also want to eat a Macaron. Preferably something chocolatey and caramelly all at the same time.
A good picture of expatriate life in a time and a place, but slow...
