The Core Six: Essential Strategies For Achieving Excellence With The Common Core (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Though definitely useful, the ideas in this book were far more rudimentary than I'd expected. While I wish I'd had this as a guide when I was launching into my teaching career, at this point it's a rehash of what I've been doing for years.I see this as most helpful for those new to teaching Reading to help build a foundation from which to start. It does include sample lesson plans for each of the "Core Six", which is definitely helpful for those new to planning and the structure of lessons. There is a lot to like about this book. I'm sure it is the first time I read it, not the last. For being short (78) it is powerful. Six strategies for teachers to get after the CCSS. As a Literacy Coach I can help teachers use these strategies in the classroom, any classroom. The examples in the book cover all grade levels and subject areas and can be used in a variety of effective ways. I enjoyed it, and am looking forward to sharing it with colleagues.
What do You think about The Core Six: Essential Strategies For Achieving Excellence With The Common Core (2013)?
Has some good ideas. Doesn't totally flesh out how to work them, but that is good and bad.
